The Art or Process of flooding transparent coloured glaze over a stamped or itaglio moulded design.

In pottery and tile-making, enamels in which the design is modelled in intaglio and tinted glaze is poured in to a level with the surface. The different thicknesses of glaze produce the lights and shades of the picture. Unlike relief moulded tiles the surface of the finished tile is flat.

George Cartlidge was a master at this technique, his designs often mistaken by the uninitiated for photographic tiles.
